About ERICSSON 1
Ericsson 2 started life as ABN Amro One and was the decisive winner of the 2005-2006 Volvo Ocean Race. Naturally this triumph was seen to be an excellent starting point for measuring the performance of the two new boats now being built.
Ericsson 2’s hull form, with its double-rudder design, has not been re-worked in any way for the present training tasks. So, apart from the new graphics, she is basically “stock standard” from the winning hull in the last race. Since she was so successful the Team decided not to change a known benchmark in order to make it easier to work forward and evaluate her performance relative to the two new boats, Ericsson 3 and 4.
